You need more iron….in your hands
According to the National Center for Health Statistics, only about one fifth of women strength train two or more times a week. Building muscle through strength training is crucial to weight control because individuals who have more muscle mass have a higher metabolic rate, causing more calories to be burned during day-to-day activities. In addition, strength training has been shown to help stave off conditions, such as diabetes, by improving the body’s response to spikes in blood sugar.
Are you tired of sweating all over the elliptical and getting no results? With a good weight training program consisting of at least two sessions a week, you can reduce overall body fat by about 3 percentage points in just 10 weeks. Plus, you’re gaining muscle, which rewards you by giving you a long-term metabolic boost and a tighter, leaner and more sculpted figure. You might be burning more calories per minute on the bike, but replacing the bike for a pair of dumbbells slashes more calories overall. This is because a good weight training session elevates your metabolism for about 48 hours, and the muscle you build elevates your metabolism permanently.
Fitness 360 offers women’s resistance training workshops six days a week!
If you want to begin resistance training but aren’t sure where to start, or you lift regularly but would like some instruction, we’ve got a new class for you. Women’s Tone and Sculpt is taught by our very own trainer, KJ Sanchez. It is a one hour workshop offered six days a week. This is a great way for you to learn basic resistance training technique while receiving personalized instruction in a small group atmosphere. In Tone and Sculpt, KJ leads her workshop through a series of exercises at weights, sets and reps that emphasize muscular endurance rather than rapid size gains. The result is a lean, svelte, feminine appearance.
Check out the schedule below and email kara@fitness360.net to put yourself on the class roster. Walk-in’s are also welcome if there is room available.
